What is this course all about and what will you gain from it? 

This is an introductory basic-level short course open to all interested in the past.  No background knowledge of the subject is required. The course provides a quick and basic introduction to Indian prehistory ranging from the Palaeolithic to the Neolithic. At the end of the course, participants will gain an understanding of how prehistoric sites are investigated, including field to laboratory methods, a perspective on human evolution, past environments, prehistoric stone tool technologies, rock art,  an overview of  key features of prehistoric cultural phases and perspectives on conservation and heritage management. 

What can you expect during the course ? 

The course will be held for 2 hours every Saturday in the month of May, 2022. There will be a 10 minute break at 11.30 am. The course will be conducted on Zoom. Lectures will be held by professional archaeologists (Dr. Kumar Akhilesh, Professor Shanti Pappu, Dr. Prachi Joshi and Ms. Sutonuka Bhattacharya, guest speakers).  

Registration Fees: Rs. 1500/-  This is non-refundable, unless the course is cancelled by the management of the Sharma Centre for Heritage Education, in the event of unforseen circumstances.

  • Certificates will be provided to those who succesfully complete the course. 
  • Open to Indian citizens only
  • The course will be held online using the Zoom platform 
  • Further details will be provided following registration

Please note: The course will be held only if there are a minimum of 20 participants. Decisions made on selection of candidates will be final.
